Resort 2013

When a designer is able to release Resort and Pre-Fall collections, their brand is doing well. It must be cool to create clothes for all seasons of the year, especially for vacationing, though, honestly, I’m not sure the term resort in fashion means going on vacation. That’s what I think of, so I’m going with it. Nowadays, bathing suits are the last thing designers think of when sketching. Below are some of my favorite looks from the designers I’ve featured thus far.

Marchesa

As always, Marchesa brings pure femininity and elegance to their designs. I believe they are aiming for the time women get dressed for special events and occasions. I love how easy and wearable these dresses look. Marchesa glamorous looks comfortable and effortless.

Viktor & Rolf

It’s great to see Viktor & Rolf’s true ready-to-wear. It still has the artistry of what they usually produce, but much easier to walk around in. I love the professional edge in these designs and see a powerful woman traveling for a conference with extracurricular activities planned on the side.

Roksanda Ilincic

Ilincic’s Resort collection is very interesting. Going minimal isn’t as easy as it seems. To make something compelling enough with the least amount of technique is a talent. Ilincic definitely has the ability. Her silhouettes seem comfortable and for every body shape and the color blocking and geometric shapes are fun, yet suitable for women of any age.

Proenza Schouler

As always, every piece of clothing below is masterfully crafted. I follow this great label for their manipulation of texture and mix of fabrics, easily seen in this collection. There’s a great variety of pieces to fit any girl’s wardrobe.

If only I was a girl. My closet would be packed full of great fashion, including everything above. It’s great to see the work of different fashion houses side by side and I’m reminded that everyone has their own ideas of what we should put on our backs. Check out Vogue.com to see the rest of these great collections and visit the designer’s official website. Enjoy and be inspired.
