Red Carpet : SAG Awards 2017

Claire Foy, or should I say the new Queen, has impressed me this award season and it’s only the second ceremony. Her fashion pick for the Golden Globes was bold and different, which continues on here with this Valentino dress. The sheer allusion design is a trend that is approaching its first retirement period, depending on if designers can push the concept further. I do appreciate this piece’s playfulness versus sexiness, more intention with the pink slip versus skin matching nude, floral for the upcoming season and I love the Roccoco collar. And of course, Matt Smith is the ultimate accessory.

Mahershala Ali, a familiar face growing up and in movies I love, is a head-turner in this tuxedo from Ermenegildo Zegna. The cut is perfection, the white makes his skin pop and the shoes are an okay alternative to the glossy shoes I prefer. The exposed ankle saves it. I personally like to show a bit with the right shoes and pants.

Only If

Gwendoline Christie, one of my Game of Thrones favorites, looks cool in this sequenced jumpsuit by Vivienne Westwood. It’s a night for actors, votes from actors, and I appreciate those who dress outside the box as if going to an after party of a great performance. I do wish she chose a different shoe. A strappy sandal would have elevated this look and give more edge and fun.

Salma Hayek, an accomplished actress, with Gucci, has changed my mind on pink paired with yellow. The shades and textures of this dress work well. My only change would be the ruffle and flower on the neckline, more so the flower versus the ruffle. I wonder if she was able to ask for a few options in the sketch process. I’d want a few!

Enjoy and be inspired!
